topic [Public Beta] Automatically Apply Checkout Fees Based on Payment Method in Commerce Product Updates

What is it?

Commerce Hub merchants using HubSpot payments and Stripe payment processing can now add fees to payment link checkouts when customers choose to pay by credit card. Set up fees for credit card transactions only, or apply fees automatically to all transactions.

Why does it matter?

You no longer need manual workarounds to add fees when customers pay by credit card. Your customers see fees clearly displayed at checkout before they pay, giving them transparency to choose the best payment method and encouraging them to select lower-cost options like ACH.

How does it work?

In beta, customers can now create a Checkout fee for payment links (note: invoices and quotes coming soon 😉).

To create a new fee:

Go to Settings > Payments Settings

Under the Fees, Taxes, and Policies tab click Add Fee

Specify the fee name, percentage amount, and payment method then Save

The fee will now be default enabled for new payment links. To turn on the fee for existing payment links, edit the payment link and save it with the applicable fee enabled in the payment link settings. Note that at this time, you can create a card fee and a direct debit fee, or a fee that applies to all purchases.

At Checkout, the fee will be automatically added if the applicable payment method is selected by the buyer.
