Using HubSpot Customer AI Agent as an embedded “AI Copilot” in website hero (instead of chat)

Hi everyone,

I’m exploring a different use case for HubSpot’s Customer AI Agent that goes beyond the traditional chat widget.

Instead of using it as a popup for support or conversations, I want to use it as a central interaction layer in the website hero — more like an AI-powered search or “copilot” for visitors.

The idea is:

A prominent input field in the hero section (“What are you looking for?” / “Ask me anything…”)
Powered by the Customer AI Agent
Fully embedded in the page (not a floating chat widget)
Acting as a combination of search, navigation and product advisor

So instead of users clicking through menus, they can directly describe what they need and be guided by AI.

My main questions:

Is it possible to use the Customer AI Agent without the default chat widget UI?
Can it be triggered from a custom input field embedded in the page?
Are there APIs or developer tools available for this kind of setup?
Or would this require building a custom layer on top of HubSpot data?

Curious if anyone has experimented with this direction or has thoughts on feasibility.

I'd like to tag in some Community experts to see what insight they may have on what functionalities may be available to achieve your goals! @Anton, @alyssamwilie, and @stefen - any idea how @INTERVISSER may be able to use the chat widget outside of standard capabilities?

Hey @INTERVISSER,

sounds like a great idea.

By default there are quite some roadblocks, but you can explore Conversation SDK which should give you the desired tools.

I think, you'll most likely end in a custom layer/serverless function situation or at least quite a lot of JS if you plan to create a "fully integrated" solution.

Just a quick tipp:

As it's not possible by default, it will be quite a lot of work.

Especially if you plan to extend the search functionality and other features of your website.

To make it easier to handle, I'd recommend to build your product pages and potential KnowledgeBase with the blog function rather then individual pages as it's easier to scan and generate search results.
