Hi @RHavre,

Which original source option would you rather have them show up under?

This page explains how HubSpot approaches this bucketing: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/reports/understand-hubspots-traffic-sources-in-the-traffic-analytics-tool

These rules cannot be changed, you can only adjust your parameters so that these automatic rules sort contacts into another source, unfortunately.

If you need more options, you would have to create your own source properties and set up workflows to maintain them.

Best regards

Original source shows "Paid search" instead of Display ads

We are running Display Ads with Google Ads, and tracking visitors on our site using the HubSpot pixel. We have connected Google Ads to HubSpot as well.

When a potential client fills out a form on our site, the contact is created in HubSpot - and we are able to see a lot of details, including their pageviews on our site, as well as "Original source" and "Latest source".

Here is our problem: All contacts are set to "Paid search", even if they come from display ads! This makes it hard for us to analyze what works the best - since we are doing both "Paid search" and "Display ads".

Under "Latest Source Drill-Down 1" HubSpot has correctly identified our Google Ads campaign - which is a Display Campaign in Google Ads.

I'm assuming this is a bug or oversight in HubSpot. Any ides how to fix, or work around, this?

Thank you Karsten, the link was very helpful.

My conclusion in case anyone else has the same question in the future: HubSpot does not have "Display Ads" or "Ads" as a possible source. If you wish to distinguish between Paid Search and Paid Ads you'll have to set this up on your own, outside of the "Source"-feature.
