topic Google Ads Build Issues in Ads

The right thing to do would be make each issue a separate post topic, but I don't want to loose the perspective that building Google Ads via the Hubspot interface was more than challenging.

This is our first time trying to use the integration and interface. So learning curve? Yes, but not everything is due to a learning curve.

No Auto-Save. Every other Marketing entity we use in Hubspot autosaves for us. Not the Google Ad builder.

Copy/Paste not consistent. My coworker had the ad text in a Word doc and could not copy the text and paste it into the Hubspot builder. Nothing would happen. (I suspect the Grammarly integration was getting in the way. But this works in other Hubspot areas.) I tried on my machine and there were some fields that wouldn't accept a Paste.

Emojis aren't allowed. The ads failed to publish and gave a vague "Prohibited" error. We rebuilt the ads in Google directly and found out that Emojis are not allowed.

Incorrect spacing count. Some of our headlines and descriptions had emojis in them. When I put the same content in the Google builder the character count was over. Hubspot said we were right on, but something was not being counted correctly in Hubspot.

Vague Error messages. Our ads would not publish and Hubspot only gave a vague error message (see below) that they were prohibited with no links to get more information. Turns out we aren't allowed emojis and some of our keywords were also not allowed (found this out in the rebuild in Google).

Several of these things just need to be fixed to provide a better experience. Others need to have more information attached to them so a user can better solve the issues. As it stands right now, I would not suggest building your ads via Hubspot. Go directly to Google so you'll know right away if you do anything wrong.

So nearly two years after this post was originally posted and I have to seriously co-sign on this post. The error messages given back appear to be API error messages which are USELESS to EVERYONE except the developers at Google for whom they MUST make perfect sense to.🤣

I had to use Google searches to TRY to make sense of them and it took some time to tease that out. I will admit I STILL am not clear on exactly what the issues were. I kept getting the "PROHIBITED evidences Google Ad" errors and had to GUESS my way through fixing whatever the tool was burping on. To be honest, I'm not convinced that the titles and descriptions it "objected" to were even issues in the 1st place. (seriously you can't have the words "events" and "school" together in the description or title?? and what the heck is the problem with the word "empowering" combined with the word "art"???? REALLY??? WHY???)

I loved the idea of creating ads in what APPEARED to be an easier to use platform as I personally found Google's Ad creation platform a LOT overwhelming.. but OMG this was painful, and in the end I think the resulting ad titles and descriptions are kinda crappy. Human readable error message please!

The big question is this, is this even on the roadmap to address? Currently it's a feature that would be great if it worked.
