Yes, HubSpot can definitely be a good fit for recruiters like Tall Trees Talent, especially if they’re working in niche, energy-intensive industries. While HubSpot isn’t built as a dedicated Applicant Tracking System (ATS), it works very well as a CRM for managing relationships with clients and candidates.

A few key benefits recruiters see with HubSpot:

Pipeline Management: You can build custom pipelines for both clients and candidates (similar to job requisitions → shortlisted → interviews → placements).

Automation: Automate follow-up emails, reminders, and interview scheduling, saving your team time.

Email + Marketing Tools: Create nurture campaigns for talent pools, or keep clients updated on market insights.

Reporting: Track KPIs like placements made, time-to-fill, or candidate engagement.

Integrations: If you already use an ATS, HubSpot integrates with many of them, so you don’t have to choose one over the other.

If your client wants strong relationship management, business development, and marketing capabilities, HubSpot is a solid choice. But if they’re looking for deep recruitment-specific features (job board posting, CV parsing, compliance tracking, etc.), then HubSpot works best alongside a dedicated ATS

Hey @zgall1

Absolutely! The beauty of HubSpot is that it can be tailored to fit any business needs through creative automations and a wide range of property types, in addition to top-notch marketing, sales, and customer success features.

For recruiting, HubSpot works exceptionally well because you can:

Track the full candidate lifecycle - from initial outreach through placement and follow-up Create custom properties for industry-specific needs (like energy sector certifications, security clearances, etc.) Automate nurture sequences for both candidates and clients Build targeted lists for different roles, industries, and skill sets Use workflows to automatically move candidates through your pipeline stages

For energy-intensive industries specifically, you could set up custom properties for relevant certifications, safety training, project types, and geographic preferences. The reporting features would also help Tall Trees Talent track metrics like time-to-fill, source effectiveness, and client satisfaction.

The CRM approach works great for recruiting since you're essentially managing relationships with both candidates (your "product") and hiring companies (your "customers"). HubSpot's dual pipeline capability makes this seamless.

Would definitely recommend exploring the recruiting-specific workflows and integrations available in the marketplace too!

We’ve seen mixed results depending on how the recruiter actually works day-to-day.

If the role is heavily relationship-driven (long-term talent pools, stakeholder management, internal hiring), HubSpot can work quite well because it’s strong on pipeline visibility and communication tracking. But if it’s more high-volume recruiting or very process-heavy (CV parsing, job board integrations), then it can start to feel a bit stretched compared to a dedicated ATS. Now the AI agents will probably change all of that so let's see how it will evolve.

In any case, one thing that often gets overlooked in this discussion is how recruiters themselves prefer to work. Some are very fast-paced and relationship-oriented, others are more structured and detail-focused. That has a big impact on whether they feel comfortable in a system like HubSpot.

We’ve actually seen teams improve adoption just by helping recruiters understand their own working style and how it affects their workflow. Frameworks like DiSC are useful here because they make those differences visible and easier to manage in a team context.
